Dr. Bhatti is a data security and privacy compliance professional in the San Francisco Bay Area. His interests are in working with fast paced technology startups that deal constantly with the challenging and intriguing issues related to security and privacy at the intersection of technology, law, and regulatory compliance. He has helped grow the security and privacy compliance program at a recently IPO-ed startup in the SaaS space and currently manages the program.
Dr. Bhatti has worked in security and privacy at Big 4 and global consulting companies in his previous career. He was the national thought leadership champion at PwC. Prior to that, he has also helped guide the Cyber Security research agenda and the strategic vision around data privacy at Accenture Technology Labs.
Dr. Bhatti has also worked as a research scientist at IBM Almaden Research Center and Oracle, where he was responsible for design and development of various information security and privacy projects related to cloud and healthcare.
In his 10+ years of experience, Dr. Bhatti has published in prestigious industry journals, presented at several conferences, and is an inventor on 3 patents. His doctoral work has been cited by the OASIS industry consortium in connection with security standards such as RBAC and SAML. In other roles, he is also an author and part-time educator, and has a passion to share knowledge and engage with the community. Dr. Bhatti received a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Purdue University. He is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM).
